Out Of The Mouths of Babes

Mel just got back from a weekend trip from Melbourne. The kids love their aunties so Mel was a hit as usual. Lauren didn't want her to leave and Monica placated her by saying Mel had to go back to work or she would be in trouble with her boss.

Logan has obviously been mulling over this because he had the following conversation with Monica this morning:

Log: How come Uncle Andrew not a doctor?

Monica: What you mean? He is.

Log: Then how come when Da Ee Ee goes on hols, he doesn't go and help so she can go away.

Monica: Oh, they are different doctors. Remember what kinda of doctor Da ee ee is ?

Log: Yes, get baby out.

Monica: Yes and Uncle Andrew makes pain go away when people are in pain.

Log (after a pause where he was clearly thinking) : Then who works harder?

Monica: Ummmm the same.

Log: I think is Uncle Andrew cos there is so many sick people in the world.

Monica thinks his point is that there are not as many people having babies compared to people being in pain. Haha! Da Ee Ee aka Mel, what do you have to say to that???

Are You Sure She's Not MY Kid???

Even more amazing when you think about how some adult women can't walk in heels without falling flat on their faces!! I'm leaving her all my heels when I'm old and riddled with arthritis.

Happy Father's Day, Dad!

It's Father's Day here in NZ so this is a shout out to my Dad. Happy Father's Day, Dad!! Sorry that none of your daughters are there to celebrate with you but you know that our thoughts are with you and that we all love you!!

Okie mushy bits are over. Anyway some of you probably don't know this but on Sundays, I masquerade as a respectable member of the public and teach Sunday School to 10 - 12 year old kids. Yes, the church was pretty desperate for teachers. Shaddup. Anyway I rocked up to class expecting to teach a normal lesson and my kids asked to do cards for Father's Day. Oopsie.. luckily I had craft materials.. I thought making cards are beneath them but apparently not. So I thought I'll post the bible verse they used in their cards to their Dads here too.

"Honour your Father and Mother"... says the Lord. Exodus 20:16 (I think it was 20:16). Darn those limelight hogging mothers.. they have to get a share of the attention too.... poor Dads! ;)

Just Call Me Piggy.. Oink! Oink!

So I've been real piggy this week... even more so than usual. On Thursday night, I went out and had Japanese yakitori which involved loads of deep fried stuff. It was then followed by a walnut and date pudding with ice cream from Sopranos. I was overeager and started eating before remembering to take a photo for the blog.

On Friday night, I went out again and ate a cow. It was seriously the biggest piece of steak I've ever had in my life... and ummmm I finished it!!! I do love my protein.

Steak from Tony's Steakhouse.. size of my head which is pretty darn huge with a side of stir fried beans with crunchy bacon and carrots!

After swallowing the cow whole, I thought to myself.. I should just go right ahead and make that heart attack really worthwhile. Soooo I got an apple pie with ice cream to wash it all down with. Yum!

Then on Monday night just gone, we went out to celebrate someone's birthday and a big stuff-your-face Hii feast was had by all.

Seafood cannenolli which was yum yum yum:

Flatfish with mushroom sauce and fries:

Giant sticky date pudding with a teeny tiny stingy scoop of vanilla bean ice cream:

So yes, I've been piggy. BUT in my defense, I've also done some good walking. Last Saturday, I walked from Remuera into Parnell and then onto the city. Yesterday, I walked from Remuera into Newmarket and then to the museum for 3 hours (a post to come about the museum). The fact that both walking trips involved a big brunch break was neither here nor there!!

Ok gotta go and babysit someone's kids!!
