Birthday Morning Tea Shout at Work

Work has an unwritten rule where if it's your birthday, you bring something in for everyone. I know, dumb rule! It's my birthday so I should be lavished with endless cupcakes and lavish trinkets... Anyhoo, I decided to make Oreo cheesecake and wow everyone with my amazing baking skills.

I feel like I've put on weight just from looking at the ingredients: The various apparatus needed for making the cheesecakes:
Luscious looking oreos before i ...
... crushed them into smithereens..

Mmmmm mixed with butter and smooshed down to make the base of the cheesecake.

4 pots of cream cheese, 1 pot of sour cream plus castor sugar equal instant happiness for my tummy...

Add in 4 eggs because misery (or fattiness in this case) loves company..

Chopped up oreos, ready to be mixed into the cream cheese mix.

Mmmmm.... imagine licking five used spoons of this. I felt ick after a while.

Sprinkle more chopped up oreos on top and they are ready for the oven.

Ta daaaaaa..... the finished product!
Add in some chips and dip and lollies and you've got yourself one heck of a morning tea...
What You Need:
1 pkg. (16.6 oz.) OREO Cookies,
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
4 pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup Sour Cream
4 eggs

Make It:
Heat oven to 325ºF.
Line 13x9-inch pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides.
Process 30 cookies in food processor until finely ground.
Add butter; mix well. Press onto bottom of pan.
Beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until well blended. Add sour cream; mix well.
Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each just until blended.
Chop remaining cookies; stir 1-1/2 cups into batter.
Pour over crust; top with remaining chopped cookies.
Bake for 45 min. or until center is almost set.
Cool completely. Refrigerate 4 hours.
Use foil handles to lift cheesecake from pan before cutting to serve.

Hate yourself for eating something so decadent. Get over your self-hatred and eat some more. Repeat cycle x10000.

Weight Watchers Need Not Apply!

Mars Bar Cheesecake

Ingredients:
250g plain chocolate biscuits
150g butter, melted
2 tablespoons brown sugar
20g butter, extra
300ml thickened cream
50g milk chocolate, chopped finely
3 teaspoons gelatine
1/4 cup (60ml) water
2 x 250g packets cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup (110g) caster sugar
3 x 60g Mars bars, chopped finely

Steps:
Process biscuits until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add butter; process until just combined. Using one hand, press crumb mixture evenly over base and side of 21cm springform tin. Cover; refrigerate 30 minutes or until firm.

Meanwhile, combine brown sugar, extra butter and 2 tablespoons of the cream in small saucepan. Stir over low heat until sugar dissolves to make butterscotch sauce.

Combine chocolate and another 2 tablespoons of the cream in another small saucepan. Stir over low heat until chocolate melts. Sprinkle gelatine over the water in small heatproof jug. Stand jug in small saucepan of simmering water. Stir until gelatine dissolves; cool 5 minutes.

Beat cheese and caster sugar in medium bowl with electric mixer until smooth. Beat remaining cream in small bowl with electric mixer until soft peaks form. Stir slightly warm gelatine mixture into cheese mixture with Mars bars. Fold in cream. Pour half of the cheese mixture into prepared tin. Drizzle half of the butterscotch and chocolate sauces over cheese mixture. Pull skewer backwards and forward through mixture several times to create a marbled effect. Repeat process with remaining cheese mixture and sauces. Cover cheesecake. Refrigerate 3 hours or until set.

Biscuit base :

Chopping up the Mars Bars finely:

All chopped up. I didn't sneak a taste... much:

Beating up the cream a bit as I bought normal cream instead of thickened cream. I had to run to the dairy to get this as I didn't realise it was on the ingredients list:

Viv snapped this photo of me being all domestic in my Oscar the Grouch jammies. Note the afro do. I just had it cut super short at the hairdressers. I might audition as a punk band singer who bakes secretly. She's ashamed of her girly side as she thinks it detracts from her rockstarness, ya see. Every good rock star needs a skeleton in her closet:

The cream cheese and caster sugar pre-beaten (I made 1.5 lot of cheesecake). I decreased the amount of caster sugar used. I know! I'm self control personified:

Cream cheese + sugar mixed together:

Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble. Slice of cheesecake goes out to the person that identifies where this quote is from.

Dissolving the gelatine which is always a pain to wash!

Making the butterscotch sauce which you can forget about if you want. The caramel in the mars bars does the trick already.

Melting the mars bars:

Goooooooooey:

Repeat after me : Cream cheese + a gazillion Mars Bars + sugar = Instantaneous Fat on Thighs

Oh but what a way to go. All mixed up:

All ready for the fridge. The big one and one of the smaller one were for ex-work mates (I still got your back, ladies) and the other little one was for Viv, the gym bunny. One of the things I do to amuse myself is to try and tempt her away from her rabbit food by making and buying totally sinful just-looking-at-it-will-make-you-fat type food.

It was only after I finished making the cheesecake that I remembered why I'd only made it once before (apart from the fact that the mere sight of it causes heart palpitations)... the recipe calls for the use of every single piece of pot and bowl I own:

All ready to be gobbled up. I sprinkled chocolate all over it because you know... it's too healthy without the chocolate:

Anyway my evil plan exploded in my own face. I had the cheesecake for breakfast, lunch and dinner today. Urgggh I can't even look at myself in the mirror. Darn you Viv and your super-human iron willpower.
