Sibu: Day 3

RM2000 seems a tad excessive, don't you think?

We went to Shabu Shabu for breakkie. Sorry Ah Here, the boss wasn't there.

I asked for my usual drink but was told that they don't serve such low-brow drinks there. Sniff sniff. So I had a passionfruit green tea instead.

Had my usual - fried vermicelli.

Mum had beef noodles without the beef.

Dad's lunch - char kuay teow with egg. Still taste the same. Yum.

Afternoon snacks for the maid - banana fritters and sweet potato fritters in the foreground and some deep fried dough thing in the background.

Also spotted one of our childhood snacks at the stalls... taste awful.

My lunch:

Sibu: Day 2

Went to buy kompia yesterday but I was too late as it was all sold out. *pump fist*  Piping hot kompia, you will be mine!!! So we went and bought some when we dropped Dad off at his office this morning. Success!!!

Cabinet full of Foochow snacks

Kompia (Foochow version of the bagel) galore.

Long gor - egg cake

Flaky pastry with a sweet sticky filling. Check out the price!

Rice cakes and some other cakey snacks.

Chun Nuen Pian - kinda like kompia but slightly sweet. Great with butter and kaya.

Kompia conjoint twins! Ummm i may have had a blackout and then when I came to, I somehow had already stuffed two kompias and a chun nuen pian down my gob.

Then Mum and I went to meet cousins for breakfast. Shush, Ah Here. The kompias do not count.

My teh c and Mum's teh o.

Kampua mee hoon with char siew meat.

Char kuay teow

Then I went home and just had a kompia with char siew meat. Bahahaha.

First Day Home

Finally got home last night after 16 days of "holiday" in China. Details to come. Everything at home looked the same and smelt the same. Lots of our childhood relics were still lying in the exact same dusty corner where they were last discarded by one of us. Sigh, so many happy memories within these four walls. 回家的感覺,真好。

First day home and Mum took me to our family friend's cafe for my very important first meal.

The beverages menu on the wall had some funny drinks. 忘情水 = Chinese tea + sugar. How about peppermine, peanut coffee, orea coffee or yurgut? Haha.

Forgot to take a photo of my drink but I had my go-to breakfast choices when I am in Sibu. Teh c panas and pien nuit (wonton) dry. RM$3.70 all up, please.

We had breakkie with the family friends and they ordered some other stuff which I had a few bites of.
Fried noodles which were very spicy.

Oh-so-luscious king-du spareribs.

I spent the rest of the day watching tv with Mum on dad's latest toys and also getting multiple massages on THE chair. My biggest worry everyday at the moment is - what to eat for my next meal, not how am I going to solve someone's problem? I repeat, 回家的感覺,真好。
