It was a Saturday so we did our favourite pastime in Sibu - roadtrip!
We went to Bintangor which was about an hour's drive from Sibu. We were only there long enough to buy food though and then we headed straight back for home again.
Best steamed buns shop in Bintangor, maybe even Sibu.... this sentence reminded me of Pua Chu Kang haha.
Crazy woman that bought the whole shop.
Most of the buns were headed straight into the freezer or given to An Ngin.
Red bean bun - the bun was sooooooooo fluffy.
Radioactive looking kaya bun
Then we went to a shop that sells really nice pastries according to Dad. The owner's brother owns the very popular long gor cake shop near Dad's office. I guess baking runs in the family.
Helloooooooooooo there.
white bean pastry - SO good. The white bean was not too sweet and the pastry was still lukewarm and flakey as. Man, so good.
The owner told Mum that their wedding biscuits (a foochow tradition is to give relatives biscuits when someone gets married) are different and yum. So Mum bought 2. It really was a bit different to the normal wedding biscuit - the pastry was flaky like the white bean one and the innards had peanuts and white sesame seeds mixed in so it was soooo fragrant and not sickly sweet. Oh my gosh GOOD. I feel like I am 浩角翔起 from 食尚玩家.
Next up, we stopped at a roadside fruit store.
We were so stuffed from all the buns so we didn't have any lunch but we went to Medan Mall and had a watermelon ice. Sadly, it was no longer the same as years ago. Only a few pathetic small chunks of watermelon. Drats.
